The growth strategy of the industry in new conditions has become the topic of a plenary discussion during the Forum “Transport of Russia”

The Moscow Gostiny Dvor is hosting the main industrial event in the country in the sphere of transport — the 16th International Forum and Exhibition “Transport of Russia”.

During the period of three days more than 3500 of representatives from the federal and regional authorities, managers of the major Russian enterprises in the sphere of transport, digitalization, infrastructure construction and experts of the industry will investigate the issues of development of all basic types of transport, creation of optimal conditions for large transport and infrastructure projects, and taking a winning position among the global competence.

Strategy is the topic for the first day of the Forum. While speaking at the Forum opening ceremony, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin said: “Thanks to the decisions swiftly made by the Head of the State, the transport system was able not only to stand successfully against all the major challenges but — what is more important — to make a foundation for future growth. This is despite all the complications this year has brought”.

The business program began with the plenary discussion “Transport of Russia. Growth Strategy in the New Conditions”. The discussion was attended by Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrey Belousov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin, Director General and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Russian Railways Oleg Belozyorov, Director General of PJSC Aeroflot Sergey Aleksandrovskiy and Chairman of the Executive Board of the State Company Russian Highways Vyacheslav Petushenko. Member of the Executive Board of the VTB Infrastructure Holding Evgeniy Trusov and First Vice President of the Bank GPB (JSC) — Head of the Infrastructure and Public-Private Partnership Projects Department Pavel Brusser also participated in the discussion. Aleksandra Suvorova, the journalist and newscaster of Russia-24 TV Channel, moderated the plenary discussion.

The plenary discussion participants discussed the challenges of providing the growth of domestic transport equipment volumes, improvement of competitive advantages of the Russian transport by means of digitalization, reconstruction of the customary transport and logistics chains, and development of transport infrastructure along the routes of “North-South”, “Eastern Corridor”, and Azov-Black Sea directions. The speakers also covered the state support measures required for the industry.

In his speech Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev highlighted the special role of digitalization in the transport area: “Digital solutions of our companies create a completely different environment. Due to this, the entire transport landscape of the industry is changed significantly”. Minister’s speech was supported by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko: “Transport is the spine of our economy, and digitalization makes it flexible and efficient”.

Later, the audience exchanged their opinions on the situation with road construction in the country. Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin shared some rewarding information: “Year after year we have been growing in terms of the amount of repaired roads. Year after year we have been growing in terms of the amount of newly built roads. And every year the set targets have been exceeded. Estimates for this year let us be confident that we will reach the largest amount of repaired roads in the entire history of the country”. He also added that the situation remains complicated.

A remarkable conclusion to the discussion was made by the moderator Aleksandra Suvorova who said that: “challenges only make us go faster”.
